New Homes
Simply using spray foam in a new home will not necessarily guarantee low monthly energy bills. The HVAC (heat/air) contractor must install a properly sized system, usually smaller than some feel comfortable with. Installing a system that's too large will cause it only to run for a few minuets before reaching the desired temperature, leading to excess humidity. Also, a heat/air system needs to run for 5-10 minutes before reaching full efficiency, so a smaller system running for longer will use less energy and remove more moisture.

Remodeling
A remodeling project is a great time to upgrade your insulation! If you are already removing an interior or exterior wall surface, it's an ideal opportunity to replace the old insulation with Spray Foam.
We do not offer the "drill and fill" method. Our products are sprayed on, expanding 30 to 120 times applied thickness. |
Flat Roof & Metal Roof Restoration |
Roofing spray foam combined with a high quality roof coating can be a very effective upgrade to any low slop or flat roof. First the roof must be thoroughly cleaned and checked for repairs. Next a dense grade spray foam is applied over the roof and around the penetrations allowing for a smooth, seamless, energy efficient foundation for a high quality acrylic or silicone roof coating. Building owners have been enjoying the energy savings of foam roofs for over the past 50 years! |
In some cases only a roof coating is needed to effectively restore a roof. Pictured to the left is a before and after of a roof coating project with only spray foam bing used around the penetrations.
Attics
There are many options when upgrading an attic. In the photo to the right, the customer chose to target leaky areas with open cell spray foam and then have more cellulose blown in the remainder of the attic. Many times if the heat/air system is in the attic, we will remove the old insulation with a gas powered vacuum and spray foam the underside of the roof deck. This makes the attic a conditioned space in which the system can operate . When an attic does not have heat/air in it, the most energy efficient method is to remove the old insulation and spray a "cap" of spray foam to the floor of the attic. Next cellulose is blown over the foam for inexpensive added R value. Some customers choose to instead have enough foam sprayed that the extra cellulose is not needed.
Crawl Spaces
First we lay 10 mil reinforced plastic on the floor for a vapor barrier, and then use a matching tape to seal the seams. After installing the vapor barrier we apply 1.5" to 2" of closed cell foam to the exterior walls and penetrations in the floor, creating a seamless barrier to moisture, outside air, bugs, etc. Learn more about Weather Stop's crawl space services. |
Agricultural
Basements
There is no better way to insulate a concrete wall than closed cell spray foam. The old method of using plastic sheeting, framing a wall, and then using fiberglass, can lead to moisture being trapped in the air pockets where the plastic isn't pressed against the wall. Sometimes plastic will not be used because of this problem, but this can lead to excess moisture in the home. Closed cell sprayed on foam bonds to the foundation walls, sealing out moisture and leading to a more easily controled temperature of the living space. It's important when framing against concrete foundation walls to leave at least an inch of space between the framing and concrete so that the closed cell foam is allowed to sufficiently seal between the wood and the concrete. |
Commercial
Garages, Barns, and Outbuildings
Spray Foam Insulation is a great choice for garages and barns! Sealing up all the air gaps can make a significant difference in controlling moisture in your building such as a pole barn. Easily heating or cooling the building is also huge plus! |
